Self Portrait Challenge

This is my last "pop art" entry. I don't like this one near as much as last week's, but it was still fun to work on. And...I have branched away from the "smiling" pictures for 2 whole weeks now:) Who knows what next week will bring!

Vomit inducing dog treats...

I just found out today, much to my dismay, that “pig ears” that dogs chew on are, IN FACT, actual PIG EARS!!!!!! So disgusting! Yet another reason why I don’t want a dog! Apparently dogs go CRAZY over the things. No slobbery pig ears in my house thank you. Gag!

Oh my gosh…this pictures really does make me want to VOMIT! The ad on-line says “Low-Fat Pig Ears!” Let me tell you, that is one low-fat treat I’m never putting anywhere near my mouth!!! (I even had to make the picture small so I wouldn't barf when I look at my blog.)

Still gagging…

It's a bat, It's a pig...NO, it's TAG ALONG!!!

Aaron created this hilarious picture of Taggie on Photoshop last night and I just HAD to share it. It cracks me up just thinking about it, let alone looking at it. Poor Taggie, if she only knew we were laughing at her expense:)

Self Portrait Challenge

The theme for this month's Self Portrait Challenge is "pop art." One of my friends was giving me a hard time today about all of my pictures looking the same (smiling face, fixed make-up, etc.)...what do you have to say about this one Smink??? :) I think it fits the theme (and there are no pearly whites showing)!

Warm weather brings out the “crazies”

I have been meaning to blog about this ever since the weather started warming up in May, but this week has pushed me over the edge so I’m finally getting around to it. Warm weather seems to bring out all the crazies that like to participate in activities that put them on roadways, without being in automobiles. Running, bicycling, riding scooters, walking dogs, or speed walking. (From this point on I will refer to these individuals strictly as “crazies” or “a crazy” in this entry)

If it is a nice day outside I can expect to dodge at least 5 crazies on my way home from work. A few crazies riding bikes during rush hour (not the smartest idea ever) a few young crazies on Razor scooters or scooters that go a whopping 5mph at their fastest (Where are their parents?), and a few crazies running with headphones on (also, not the smartest idea ever if you are running on the road during rush hour, which all these crazies are!) My main beef with the crazies is that they are putting themselves and automobile drivers in harms way. Inevitably, when I am approaching a crazy (or group of crazies) there is a vehicle coming the other direction so I either have to swerve quickly to get around the crazy or slam on my brakes to avoid hitting the crazy in the butt and jettisoning them into next Tuesday. Neither option is safe for me, the other drivers, or (most obviously) the CRAZIES!

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that people like to do outdoor activities for fitness and/or fun (though I don’t think any of those activities are fun personally). However, the crazies need to use more sense about when and where they do such activities. No, the crazies are not riding, walking, etc. on the interstate, but they are doing their activities on main thoroughfares during RUSH HOUR! Come on! Of course, if I thought these folks were sensible folks then I would have a different name for them then “crazies” so maybe I can’t expect any more out of them.

Note to all crazies: Stay off of High School Road, Tibbs Road, and Banta road between the hours of 4:45pm and 5:30pm Monday-Friday otherwise you run the risk of getting accidentally mowed over by a crazy-hater!

Self Portrait Challenge- Happy Anniversary!

We took this picture yesterday on our 2 year anniversary. Since my husband is part of who I am, I thought it was fitting to include him in the self portrait on the week of our anniversary.

Peek-a-boo anyone?

Yeah Right...

Scouring the internet today I found this headline about the birth of Angelina and Brad Pitt’s Baby: “Pitt: Shiloh's Birth Was 'Truly Peaceful.’”

Now, I’ve never had a baby, but I’ve seen a few mothers just following birth and let me tell you…it didn’t look like they had just been through a “peaceful” event. And yeah, Angelina had a C section, but I’ve seen brand new moms after a C section and they don’t look like they’ve just experienced anything peaceful either. To quote one of my friends “Having a 6-7 pound item removed from ones body is never peaceful!” I agree.

Guess what Angelina, you’re human too so I doubt the child birth experience was "truly peaceful.” Just because you’re some UN Ambassador and have adopted 2 international kids (which people do all the time by the way) doesn’t mean that you’re a super-being. Where you awake for the birth of your daughter, was Brad in the room??? If so, I doubt that “peaceful” is the correct description of the event. Whatever Brangelina. You’re not foolin’ me!

The Charade Continues...

DORK ALERT: I am about to rant about Superman. Read on…

We just finished watching the last episode of the 2nd season of “Lois and Clark” and let me tell you, I am irritated!!!! It has been 2 full seasons now and Lois hasn’t figured out that Clark and Superman are the same person. Who knew that taking off your glasses and slicking back your hair was so deceiving!!! Way to go Clark, you are a GENIUS, and to quote an episode…Lois is “galactically stupid” because she hasn’t figured it out yet. Oh well, the season did end with a marriage proposal from Clark (to Lois) so SURELY the “truth” about Superman will come out at the beginning of next season, right? The show only aired for 4 seasons so they better get a move on with the story line.

Self Portrait Challenge-In the Garden

This picture gives me a "Senior Picture" vibe. I know I had a senior picture taken with flowers so I felt like I was re-living my senior pic photo shoot. Of course, I don't look quite as youthful as I did in my senior pictures, nor am I anywhere near as tan (my senior pics were taken after a full season of outdoor marching band practices).

The calla lillies are in our flower bed. I planted them last year and they actually came up again this year! It's a miracle!

Donations Anyone??? :)

Aaron just found out that Physical Therapy (PT) school is going to cost $33,000 if he goes to IUPUI and over $60,000 if he goes to University of Indianapolis!!!!!!!! That is 3 years of tuition only…books will be extra (at least an additional $1,000-$2,000 per year)! U of I’s program is rated in the top 20 PT schools in the country so that would be the best choice for his education, but it would probably mean that we would be paying off student loans until retirement. So, if you know of any scholarships, low interest students loans, etc. that you can refer us to it would be greatly appreciated! Or, if you just want to give a $30,000-$60,000 donation that would be okay with us too : )

Newlyweds Again!

As our 2nd anniversary approaches, Aaron and I have happily fallen into a “newlywed’ lifestyle complete with all the hand-holding, little smooches in public, and dates. Aaron was gone to camp in Wisconsin for two weeks and returned last Thursday evening. Since his return we have been able to spend some real quality time together and we have LOVED every minute of it. Luckily Aaron had last Friday and Saturday off work so we got to have 1 date night and 1 whole date day! We went to dinner and a movie on Friday night, which is something we hadn’t done in months. Then, On Saturday, we went shopping at Metropolis (the weather was beautiful too…refer to my previous entry about shopping at the outdoor mall in crummy weather) and Aaron patiently waited for me to try on clothes!! After shopping we went to eat, then to an Indians ballgame at Victory field.

To be honest “Newlyweds Again” might be a misleading title because I don’t think we went through the typical, happy, lovey-dovey newlywed stage following our wedding because our lives were so busy at the time. (We were not unhappy, we just didn’t have time to swoon over each other!) With me working full-time in Indy and still living in Brazil, and Aaron working crazy hours at Kroger following our wedding we didn’t get all that much quality time together. Then, I finished my final semester of school, we bought a house in Indy, moved, I got my first “real job” and Aaron transferred schools. Wow, it’s no wonder that we didn’t have a “newlywed” stage until now!

Well, regardless of the fact that it’s happening 2 years after the wedding, it’s great to be newlyweds : ) Hope it doesn’t end any time soon!
